Notodden Blues Festival has signed the “gold bird” again for this year’s festival. Chicago’s own heroes Nick Moss Band featuring Dennis Gruenling are really in the shot these days.

When the nominations came for this year’s Blues Music Awards, this band topped everyone with a whopping 7 nominations. They are nominated as Band Of The Year, Album Of The Year ( Get Your Back Into It!), Traditional Blues Album Of The Year (Get Your Back Into It!), Song Of The Year (The Bait In The Snare), Traditional Blues Male Artist Of The Year (Nick Moss), Best Instrumentalist — Harmonica (Dennis Gruenling) and Best Instrumentalist — Bass (Rodrigo Mantovani).

The Nick Moss Band is at the very top of popularity when it comes to traditional guitar and harmonica-driven electric Chicago Blues and West Coast Swing. Now that Rod Piazza & the Mighty Flyers have stopped touring, it is the Nick Moss Band featuring Dennis Gruenling who are taking over as the standard bearers of this style of blues. This is an absolutely fabulous band who know this swinging and popular form of blues to their fingertips. Just listen to their huge album “Get Your Back Into It” and you will understand that a concert with the Nick Moss Band featuring Dennis Gruenling will send the mood sky high.

Moss, Gruenling and the band have previously received 5 Blues Music Awards, i.a. as “Band Of The Year” in 2020. In the same year, they also won in the categories “Song Of The Year “(Lucky Guy) and “Traditional Blues Album Of The Year” (Lucky Guy!). In 2019, Nick Moss was named “Traditional Blues Male Artist” (Moss) and Dennis Gruenling received the award for “Instrumentalist—Harmonica”. They are now nominated in 7 categories. In other words, the Nick Moss Band featuring Dennis Gruenling is on full speed towards the starry sky.

Nick Moss has been to the Notodden Blues Festival several times, but this will be the first visit since 2014. It is truly time for them to return, and the timing could not be better. They are loved by our audience, and this is guaranteed to be well received by the blues people at Notodden. See you all at the concerts with the Nick Moss Band featuring Dennis Gruenling. In the meantime, we simply get to shorten the wait by listening to the award-nominated album “Get Your Back Into It”!
